145TC Ranforce Fabric 100% Turkish Long-Staple Cotton

High TC Myth: Optimum Thread Count for Duvet Covers

The thread count of a fabric refers to the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. A higher thread count means a denser and smoother fabric, as there are more threads packed into the same amount of space. A 100% cotton fabric with 145TC has 145 threads woven into one square inch. Fabrics with 300TC or 800TC contain 300 or 800 threads in the same space. But what about those yarn numbers? If you are searching for 100% cotton items, you may come across yarn numbers such as 20/1, 30/1, or 40/1. These numbers are commonly used in fabric descriptions. Well, these numbers actually refer to the yarn thickness. That said, they can be misleading, because as the yarn number increases, the thickness of the yarn decreases and it becomes thinner. In other words, 30/1 is thicker than 40/1. Also, as the number of threads in the fabric increases, the thickness of the yarn used will decrease. For instance, most fabrics used in 100% cotton bed linen and duvet covers are 30/1 yarn, which usually translates to 145 thread count.

This particular fabric is called Ranforce, and it’s been the golden standard for linens, bedding and duvet covers for a long time. However, throughout the years some vendors deliberately spread false information with their marketing so they could stand out from the rest. As a result, most users today believe that fabrics with thread counts below 200TC are inadequate.

Cotton Yarn 30/1

There is a widespread fallacy that the quality of bed linens rises linearly with thread count. This may be true up to a point. Weaving experts state that there is no quality improvement after 300 to 400 thread count. In truth, there is a maximum number of threads that may uniformly fit into a square inch of fabric. Thread counts above 600 reduce ventilation. Tightly packed fibres also increase the risk of fabric bobbling. Therefore, it is clear that bedding above 400TC is probably just a marketing ploy where you spend more but receive less. As a general rule, anything above 120TC is considered high quality.

Thread counts above 400TC are unnecessary and mainly increase cost. The thickness and the quality of the threads themselves, not just their quantity, is a crucial considerations when purchasing bedding. Shorter and thinner fibres will have more breakpoints, which will increase their propensity to pill over time.

Ranforce Fabric 145TC

Ranforce fabric is made from 100% Turkish cotton using Ne 30/1 yarn with 145 threads per square inch.
It is a reliable choice for sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers. Here is why:

Long-staple cotton: Long-staple cotton uses longer and stronger fibres. This improves the durability and overall strength of the fabric. This type of cotton is also known for its softness, making it more comfortable to sleep on.

High thread count: The 145 threads per square inch make the fabric dense and tightly woven, which helps to create a smoother and softer fabric. This high thread count also makes the fabric more durable and resistant to wear and tear, ensuring that it will last longer.

30/1 cotton yarn: The use of 30/1 cotton yarn means that the fibres are finer, which contributes to the softness and smoothness of the fabric. This type of yarn is also stronger, making it more resistant to wear and tear.

Fabrics made with 30/1 cotton yarn are generally considered higher quality than 40/1 yarn fabrics. This is because 30/1 yarn uses thicker fibres. The 30/1 cotton yarn creates a smooth and soft fabric. Its thickness also makes it more durable and resistant to wear and tear.

Ranforce Fabric and Its Use in Duvet Covers

Ranforce fabric, with its 100% Turkish long-staple cotton, high thread count, and thick 30/1 cotton yarn, is a great choice for duvet covers and bedding . Its high-quality construction and materials make it comfortable, durable, and long-lasting. This helps ensure a better and more restful night’s sleep over time.
